This is Liu Dan’s third appearance in a Nordstrom’s catalog this year. The company must really love her. But then again, what’s not to love — she’s gorgeous and versatile. The first two photos are spectacular; the rest are above average catalog stuff.
Catalog shoots are the bread and butter of most working models. They pay really well, sometimes as much as $3,000/day for brands like JCrew and Ann Taylor or stores like Macys and Nordstrom. In addition, there are so many catalog shoots that a successful catalog model can book a job almost every month. Magazine covers and editorials, on the other hand, are great for recognition and exposure but they rarely pay more than $300/day, even for top-notch magazines like Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.
